The # ME3210 Schmitt 10 Liter German Fermenting Crock Pot is an ergonomic fermentation gartopf pot, designed in Germany by Schmitt. A traditional gartopf crock pot suitable for almost all varieties of vegetables, including cabbage, pumpkin, cucumber, carrots, and more. There no such requirement or storage or care, while being neutral for every fermented veggies. Dark in color, this new pot comes complete with lid, weighing stones, and instruction booklet. It measures 14.25 in height, 12 inches in diameter, and weighs 18.9 pounds.

This is my first crock with a lid and included weights and I think it will work well. Don't plan on using the molded handles on the side as they are not functional for lifting the crock empty much less if the crock is full. My lid also had a linear glaze crack across the edge which indicated to me a lack of quality control, which I didn't expect from this brand and price range. I haven't seen other similar USA models so my review is neutral at this point. Also, it would be nice if the company included more operating instructions and fermenting recipes including fermenting times etc.

10 liter Schmitt Fermenting Crock

This is a perfect size for family sized kraut production. 6 lbs of shredded cabbage made it about 2/3 full. Kraut making is fool proof now. Yum. I had to put a tray under it as the bottom is a bit rough, didn't want it to scratch marble countertops (Yes it is that pretty). But that's to be expected of good crockery. My daughter wants one for Christmas now!

Fermenting away...

I had cabbage ready to ferment, but no appropriate container, so when I ordered this crock with the faster shipping option, I was hoping they'd actually ship it quickly as well. They must have received my order and shipped it within 5 minutes, because it arrived before I'd even started thinking about where it was. Love the crock. Color is very nice, and the glaze seems strong. The one thing that surprised me was that the weights aren't actually the same diameter as the inner walls of the crock, only of the opening at the top of the crock. I chose this straight-walled crock thinking I'd not have to worry about material coming up around the weights, but as it turns out, unless you fill the crock completely with liquid, and really even if you do, some material can still rise above the level of the weights. I think this has more to do with me learning the process than any fault in the product, and thus my five star rating. In any case, love the crock.

We bought our crock about a year ago. I don't like making hasty reviews, lol. I bought a 5 liter first, then we bought this one. The 5liter just doesn't hold enough to make it worthwhile to us. We had thought that the 10 liter might make too much krout, but we were wrong. It makes perfect batches. I will be getting me one more 10 liter so I can have krout fermenting all the time, as we run out every time. I do ferment mine at least 6 weeks, and it is the best krout I have ever had. So much easier, and tastier than the jar method, I will never go back. When we run out of our garden cabbage, one of our grocery stores sells us 50 pound bags at a discount, and that is the perfect amount for these crocks as they hold 25-30 pounds each, and that is why we don't want a bigger one, because it makes it easier to move around, empty and clean. Perfect size is the 10 liter We loved the color too. No molds, and the shipping was very fast!

I did a great deal of research before deciding on purchasing this crock. It arrived promptly and was packaged in a manner that could only be described as remarkable. It is currently packed with cabbage soon to be transformed into kraut. Overall a great way to make probiotic veggies for good health.

I just jarred my first batch of kraut I made in this crock.
It turned out awesome! I mean, absolutely killer kraut! :-)
The water seal keeps out any concerns - you literally just "set it and forget it", lol
I added a culture starter to this batch to speed up the fermentation process - and seven days later, BAM, Rockin' some Killer Kraut!

If you want to ferment food for better eating then you need to use these Schmitt crocks. they are easy to use and clean. My wife and I made over 40 litters of fermented cabbage last year using the crocks we bought from you all last year and it all turned out better than store bought. Thanks
